Community Rebuild

Our Community Has Outgrown It's Current Format.

As a result of growth in membership our community has outgrown it's current format, the discord channel tree and role permission systems can no longer cope properly with a community of our size and we need to restructure how our community communicates to facilitate a better experience for our members. This situation was foreseen and the creation of these forums is the first step that we needed to take to in order to allow our gaming community to grow.

As things stand it is difficult to know who play's the same games as you, who has similar interest's, and in general who to talk too. Our aim is to clear this up and generate a new structured approach that will make it easy for both new and old members to know who's who, what's what, and were they can do what they do.

This process will take a few day's initially, and we expect a few minor teething problems with the restructuring process. We want to minimise any adverse affects on your gaming and community experience that this process may have, so if you do have any problems, suggestions, observations, or comments please let us know.

The next step.

I have already started to analyse the current discord structure and am currently developing a new structure for us with the aim of creating a clear and concise channel tree in discord so that people can find the channels for their games and interest with ease. I am also generating a new 'role' tree where members will be listed by their position in the community and hope to be applying this to our discord very soon.

All current member roles will be deleted, this means that you will all show in a single list without any community roles applied including the channel access permissions. We will need to discuss your gaming activities with each of you in order to be able to apply appropriate roles and channel permissions which will take a few day's and we ask that you bear with us during this process. It is a lot of work for us and will need to be done in our spare time around our 'real life' commitments.

The future.

The objective of this process is to enable you, the community, to communicate. In the future you will be able to open the channel groups that suit you and will no longer be faced with a total mishmash of random post's that mean nothing to you to trawl through and find things of interest.

In the future new members in our community will arrive in the new 'Lobby' where they will await permissioning, this will take the form of a short discussion during which roles will be applied and the basic structure of our community will be explained and will take but a couple of minutes. Then the new members will be introduced to the sections of the community they are most likely to be playing/chatting with.

Each of the games our community officially supports will have their own channel groups, with sub-channels for the tribe/guild structure that is relevant to that game. This will include channel permissioning to facilitate 'closed' channels for each tribe within that game as the group warrants.

For instance, one of the games we support is Ark. Within the Ark section of our community members play together in tribes, but they don't want other tribes to know what they are doing. So each tribe wants to be able to talk in voice chat and know that another tribe will not simply drop in and spy on them, (Which would be a dick move and totally against the edict of our community), and they would most likely want at least 1 text channel were they can pass their tribe members information that other tribes won't be able to read. Our new per-channel permissions system, combined with the new member roles structure will facilitate this and give each tribe in the Ark section of our community 'privacy' and the confidence to coordinate their next raid knowing that their targets won't see it coming. But wait! The Ark section of our community will also want to talk tribe to tribe, and what about solo players? Well of course the Ark section of our community will have group channels as well for this very purpose.

This is how all game groups will be structured, according to the needs of that game; Plus, we will still have the community wide sections for general chat, light humour, and just generally being you.

Today's the day!

As off today - 02/17/2018 - all previous discord channels and permissions will be removed and the rebuild is starting.

This means you WILL need to speak to an Admin or Mod to gain channel permissions in discord.
